Prior to her descent into madness at Ace Chemicals, Doctor Harleen Quinzel was a promising psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum, a home for Gotham's criminally insane.
But after meeting the Joker, the young doctor becomes obsessed with his twisted and criminal mind. Sensing the opportunity, the Joker manipulated her, driving the therapist so crazy that he was able to control her completely. Harleen fell in love with the villain, took him out of the Arkham Sanitarium, and devoted her life to making him happy, and spreading her bloody brand of chaos and disorder.
